Most market coverage is written for one of two readers: the professional who already knows everything, or the beginner who is being sold something. IndianMarket is written for the person in between: someone who watches Nifty and Bank Nifty every day, trades or invests with their own money, and wants the story behind the numbers without the noise.
What you’ll find here
Daily market stories. After the close, a short account of the session: how the major indices moved, which sectors led and lagged, and what the derivatives market was saying. Numbers come from the exchange or a named source.
Explainers. Plain-English guides to the ideas traders use every day: open interest, the put-call ratio, expiry, implied volatility, index construction. Each one is written to be read once and remembered, not skimmed and forgotten.
Context, not calls. When a level, a ratio or a flow gets attention, we’ll explain what it measures and where it tends to mislead. We won’t tell you what to buy or sell.
How we work
If a number isn’t sourced, it doesn’t run. If an indicator has a weak record, we say so.
Markets reward humility. Every explainer on this site includes the limits of the idea it explains, because the most expensive mistakes come from trusting a tool beyond what it can actually tell you.

New to derivatives data? Begin with the open interest explainer, then the put-call ratio, then what the big three indices actually measure.
The market opens at 09:15 IST. The session clock at the top of every page tells you where it stands right now.
